Launching the Imagination 134-139
(I feel like I'm about to critique the chapter about critiques. Random ironic thoughts!)
Even though we've been doing critiques in my classes for a while, it was interesting to read different types of critique, how to improve your critique, and how to take critisism.
I think I can give some pretty good insights about what I notice, or what I think could have been done better. They're always short and to the point, but I think that's just how I work. I can also take critisism pretty well, since I usually see worse things myself, as the artist.
I've never been much of a writer, and I feel I could never make such a well thought out response to any piece of art. I can see how diagonals can split a painting, but I don't think I could give a description with such intricacy and put it in a compelling way. It does help that the chapter has examples of a critique.

Awesome Shadow Art!

Shadow Sculptures by Tim Noble and Sue Webster.. these are awesome! From what I see, they create many sculptures, where the real art is the shadow.. genius!

TV Shows are Social!
As I read in the book last week, TV shows are a social thing whether watched with someone or by yourself. This video is absolute proof of that! The soundtracks composed by Murray Gold are absolutely amazing, and can be enjoyed whether you watch Doctor Who or not. The Doctor Who Fan Orchestra is something anybody can participate in. When you sign up to do it, you get a click-track and sheet music to play/sing to. You send your video and audio recordings, and they put it all together! (I was in the 5th and 6th collaboration.. if you want to go search for me on Youtube!) This is the 7th one.. I think it is the best one so far!

Promising Ads..
[[356]]
POL 265-279
I (obviously) really like how the book descibes ads as a paradox. As it says at the bottom of 274, ads show you what you think you need, and it will make you happy if you buy the product. The needs are never truly fulfilled and you'll never be happy no matter how much you buy. The ads only make you feel as if you're missing that something that will make you happy, and lures you into buying the thing they are selling. It never stops. (This still makes me think of Banksy-- the true defacement in cities isn't his art, but the ads..)

Letterform Composition
I used three simple colors; orange, blue, and green with different shades of each. I really like how the stroke I used has 2 colors in it, and makes it look sharp, yet messy. I made the outer two have rounded edges, and the middle one have sharp ones. I thought it gave it some kind of balance.
(It took a little longer than usual because someone needed help in the back.. you know who you are) ;)
