I was looking through some pictures (for the portfolio) and completely forgot about these pictures!

(All before I started at WSU.. I taught myself Photoshop!)

Three abstract videos I made for FA 333 (Video and Sound)

(You should ask me how I did the video on this one. You'll be laughing. Almost a guarantee there.)

RoboPhot

RoboPhot takes many macro pictures and stitches them together, making an ultra high-resolution image.

It has been used for portraits, pictures of paintings, and insect collections.

The portraits consist of 600 pictures- a size of 900 million pixels!

You'll have to visit the site to see these- you can zoom in and explore!

..It's creepy.

Well, sometimes, a little..

(I drew this last night)
You wonder why I do all my projects relating to Doctor Who.
It's because I can't think of anything else to do..
No,  not useless necessarily, but.. honestly I wouldn't do Doctor Who if I had any other ideas.
(So don't tell me to not to do Doctor Who. The reason becomes --I have to do the project, somehow--)

It's not like anyone looks at the blogs anyway..
      I tested that theory.

Billboards That Drop Angels on Your Head!

>link<
Interactive advertisements!
The videos are embedded on the website; I'm not going to reconstruct their layout in my post.
Go see it!

Some ads have videos interacting with things around them (not necessarily people), and sometimes gets the point across with people's involvement with the ad.

It's really cool.. go check it out!

Nature vs. Nurture

Start at around 3:15 if you don't want to listen to the whole song..

Then at 3:35 is the question.

"Are people born wicked? Or do they have wickedness thurst upon them?"

Now listen to the end. (If you don't already know how it goes..)

If you still don't know what's going on, Elphaba was born green.. I'd say (in this case) it was completely nurture that made her that way. You heard the way people instantly reacted to her. Throughout the whole musical, knowing her, you don't get a sense of evil. It's the way people saw her from the start. Then by the song "Defying Gravity," you see her letting go (haha, letting go.. Let it Go.. Idina Menzel.. haha...) of trying to not be what people say she is.

Then to what most people only know as the Wicked Witch of the West.. wicked.
sigh..
I love this musical so SO much..
(shh, I haven't seen the actual musical.. *cries*) I've only read the book and memorized most of the songs..

Shanken: 213-228

For my Video and Sound class, I had to do a presentation that involved Ira Schneider and Frank Gillette, and they're in this section!
SO after all the work I put into finding THIS video of Wipe Cycle, I'll share it!

They were also a part of the magazine "Radical Software" and the Raindance Corporation.
It was a magazine all about independent video!

I suddenly feel like I know some things when I recognize things in the textbooks!

Updates on a Previous Blog Post!

Remember when I posted that amazing fan-made Doctor Who art by Alice X. Zhang?
That blog post here

Hahaha no you don't. Let's not kid ourselves.

ANYWAY, I just read that the newest Doctor Who comics' covers were by her!

I just love this!

That the art was THAT good and THAT recognized that she's gotten this far!

I know nobody else will enjoy this..
Haha, just kidding.....

But I'm sharing it anyway!

In the book, it talked about the exhibition "Software." Only until the very end did it mention that the piece SEEK had gerbils in it!
Why would it not elaborate on that..?

Aww, gerbils!! -->

Robotic Chair

On page 164 in Shanken, the piece "Robotic Chair" was interesting to me. As I read, I thought to myself that I'd look and see if I could find a video on it. As I finished the section, it said Youtube videos have been viewed many, many, times. Perfect!

I thought this was really cool. When the chair finally found its way to the piece, I was surprised at how quick and accurately it attached itself!

Then, like any good book/movie/whatever (in my experience),
it gives you hope,

and at the end,

IT'S GONE

IT BREAKS RIGHT AWAY
I just felt so happy for it..

(Why can my characters never be happy?? D: )

This is just SO great!!

Christmas Break Art!

I decided I needed to "update" my mom's Christmas village..
Then I went crazy editing it ^_^

I just meant to take a simple picture..
but then I got my SLR and poster board out for a background..
Then Photoshop..
Then it just kind of happened.

Here's the original!
I would have posted this around Christmastime..
But no one would see it..!

Studying? About that..

Sometimes school becomes too much for me, then this happens.

Shanken: 54-78

I really like the idea of making art with light. I've done some things, like Bokeh photography, or just simply taking pictures at different angles from the light (for the lens flare, mostly).

On page 67, it shows a red cube of light. It can be imagined as a flat projection, or as an actual object. I have specific memories of imagining the same idea when I was really young. It's fun seeing it as an actual art piece.

And, okay. Forgive me. Page 61. In the piece "Light Ballet" I can only see Doctor Who. The 1963 title sequence looks like they're doing the same thing. (Looks like it, at least.. I tried researching how they made the theme, but I only got results on the music part of it.. which I already knew..)

Seriously though.

That Blog Post About that Paper...

I kinda dropped it behind this ginormous couch.. I'm housesitting, so no one can help me, and my hands are too big to get it... IT'S GONE.

..oops.

Art Over the Break!

And after!

And another version!

Shanken: Survey

It was interesting to me to read about the art of photocopying (not necessarily because we have to scan objects for another class..). My best friend had played around with the copier, moving things along as it scanned. Also, the part that explained that Ulrichs photocopied an encyclopedia entry, then scanned the picture before it 99 times. It reminded me of a very cool, somewhat related video!
Although in this video, he uploaded, downloaded, and uploaded THAT video... 1000 times.

Poptarts!

Yes, I have friends on the internet..
These two I know on Pinterest and Tumblr, and they... are just my favorite!

(I am telling / showing a story with these... so you know.)

It was her birthday, so I made her THIS!

My goal was to just make her happy and brighten her day, but instead, that's what I got!
